Magnolia / Queen Anne

MAGNOLIA

Magnolia is very sought after neighborhood in Seattle. On a map, it’s looks like a peninsula and there are only 3 entry points.  On any given day, people don’t end up in Magnolia by accident because it’s a destination, one of the only areas in town that you can’t accidentally drive through as you are going elsewhere. What makes Magnolia so popular is its close proximity to downtown Seattle while feeling like a suburban neighborhood. That’s not the only thing that Magnolia so well known. It’s also home to the famous Discovery Park, the biggest park in Seattle with miles of trails and beautiful beaches! Downtown Magnolia is full of great restaurants and coffee shops and is perfect for a leisurely stroll.

Because housing is spread out over two large hills, about half the condo associations offer units with views. The neighborhood is not very large and mostly has single family homes, condominium units can be difficult to find here and inventory is almost always low.  Bellagio, Discovery Park Condos, Magnolia Ridge, Baywatch and Chez Nous are just some of the condo projects though the list isn’t as long as many other neighborhoods. A condo (rather an HOA) association definitely worth mentioning is Fort Lawton Condominiums, a century old project located in the heart of Discovery Park where Fort Lawton military base had its home years ago. Iconic officer housing was recently converted into condo units (single family and townhouse style, legally structured as a condo association), available for purchase with.

QUEEN ANNE

Queen Anne is located just east of magnolia and also neighbors Belltown and South Lake Union just to south. As one of the oldest and most established neighborhoods in Seattle, it’s full of charm and character. Turn of the century homes are spread wide through the areas and several condominium buildings are actually converted and re-purposed 100+ year old buildings (such as Queen Anne High School Condo Association, which was a very popular high school when it was first built in 1908 and converted into a 139-unit condo complex around year 2000).

Queen Anne is home to the world-famous Space Needle, which is located on the south border of the neighborhood. While the majority of the neighborhood feels very suburban, the drive to Downtown Seattle is only about 10 minutes. From Lower Queen Anne, you can easily walk or bike to Belltown. Downtown Queen Anne is very charming and offers a lot of local eats and shopping.

Because Queen Anne is a large hill, more than half of condominium associations have units with fantastic views. If you are on the east side of the hill, the views of the Puget Sound and sunsets are absolutely sunning! If you are on the west side of Queen Anne, the views of Lake Union are hard to beat. Condo Associations like Athena, Lumen, Barclay Court, The Willis, Nautica, Union Bay is a very short list of condo projects abundant in Queen Anne.
