SOUTH LAKE UNION
A neighborhood commonly known as South Lake Union shares its zip codes with Queen Anne (directly West) and Eastlake (directly East). As the name suggests, the neighborhood is located around the South shore of the beautiful Lake Union. Once an area with little to offer, today, South Lake Union is considered the technological and science capital of Seattle by many. Thanks to recent development by Vulcan Inc., not only is the area home to Amazon.com Headquarters, it is absolutely gorgeous, very walkable, full of life and enough simply cannot be said about the stunning Lake Union Park. Also home to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle’s Children’s Hospital and PATH, the major tech and science employers of the city make the area very popular with working professionals, looking for a great quality of life with the ability to walk to work. Though house-boat living is obvious due to location (Sleepless in Seattle, anyone?), easy access to highways, countless amazing restaurants and great outdoor activities make this area even more popular for condo living. Public transportation here is very good, plenty of buses, Pronto bike stations and the South Lake Union streetcar with a quick 5-minute ride to Downtown.
Needless to say, the real estate market in South Lake Union is one of the busiest and most competitive in Seattle, especially given that there aren’t as many condo units here as one might think. Veer Lofts, Marselle, 2200 Westlake and Enso Condominiums are among the more popular. Some of the condo units here offer breathtaking city and lake views that never get old!
EASTLAKE
Adjacent to I5 on the East and neighboring Lake Union on the West, Eastlake is a very popular and fast developing residential neighborhood. While house-boat living is popular due to its location, condominium buildings and townhomes can be found on just about every block. A corky neighborhood with mixed architecture and cool local restaurants, the neighborhood is popular because of fantastic views, proximity to the University of Washington, Downtown and South Lake Union, as well as easy access to freeways. Most condos here are also close enough to the Amazon campus to be able to walk there. Union Harbor, Yale Place, the Harmon, Maison D'or Condos, Tramonti, and Ruby are just a few of the condominium associations located within the neighborhood.
